Early in saxophone and flute player Paul Lieberman’s career Gil Evans commented “everything he plays sounds right” & David Sanborn bestowed a surprise kiss. In the show that the Boston Phoenix named one of “10 Boston Jazz Acts That Blew Through The Roof In 2011” Paul presents his fascinating re-arrangements of classics and originals from his critically acclaimed new CD “Ibeji.” The recording looks at Brazilian music and Jazz as twin children of Mother Africa separated at birth, raised in distant parts of the world and now reunited, “combines technique, intelligence, experience, emotions, and risk-taking that pushes the musician beyond the ordinary or the commonplace,” and generated nominations for Latin Jazz Flutist of the Year & Brazilian Jazz Album of the Year.
